What is the DNS on the Internet?
DNS stands for Domain Name System. The main function of DNS
is to translate domain names into IP Addresses, which computers can understand.
It also provides a list of mail servers that accept Emails for each domain
name. Each domain name in DNS will nominate a set of name servers to be
authoritative for its DNS records.
What is the role of DNS on the Internet?
It is an important tool that
requires to be fool-proof and has a major role in browsing
the Internet. Domain names serve to identify Internet resources, such
as computers, networks, and services, with a text-based label that
is easier to memorize than the numerical addresses used in Internet
protocols. A domain name may represent entire collections of such resources or
individual instances.
